XL^®/BLT^® - M-Coat pipe offers the maximum hydraulic advantage of any available threadable sprinkler pipe with an inside diameter up to 5% larger than Sch-40. The use of XL/BLT - M-Coat in conjunction with Dynaflow pipe can dramatically improve the flow characteristics, thereby increasing the potential for "downsizing" system components.

The XL/BLT - M-Coat line of pipe is an exceptionally strong sprinkler pipe of the class generally known as "lightwall threadable pipe". Its wall thickness is less than that of Sch-40 or Sch-10, but the cold forming process undergone in manufacturing gives the pipe mechanical strength characteristics equivalent to those required for Sch-40. It is designed for use in wet, dry, preaction and deluge systems. XL/BLT can be joined with threaded fi ttings (when in accordance with ANSI B1.20.1), roll grooved, plain end couplings, or welded joints.

XL/BLT - M-Coat products have metallurgical properties which provide excellent fabrication characteristics for end prep finishes, welding and roll grooving. No special process or equipment is needed for fabrication and installation.

Superior Coating

XL is manufactured with an exterior galvanized coating while BLT is black lacquer coated. Both exterior finishes offer a clean, durable surface ready for paint for custom color applications without special preparation.

The internal surface of all black Allied Tube & Conduit fire sprinkler pipe products are coated with M-Coat, an advanced MIC coating that is FBC™ system compatible for hybrid sprinkler systems.  FBC system compatible indicates that this product has been tested, and is monitored on an ongoing basis, for chemical compatibility with FlowGuard Gold®, Blazemaster® and Corzan® pipe and fittings.

Specifications & Approvals

XL/BLT - M-Coat pipe is manufactured to meet ASTM A-135, Type E Grade A for fire sprinkler applications up to 300 psi in working pressure. Both products are UL listed for wet, dry, preaction and deluge systems and FM approved for wet sprinkler systems. XL/BLT is cUL listed for wet, dry and preaction systems. All threaded and welded fittings are approved in accordance with NFPA 13.
